An Insurance Carrier with Divisions that specialize in Fee for Service business. These business units, in different physical locations, serve as Third Party Administrators and Managing General Agents.

Challenge
The client was using different legacy systems to handle the full spectrum of insurance processing. This included marketing, underwriting, rating, issuance, billing, corporate accounting and claims processing. Many of these processes were either manual or based on old technology. One of the specific needs for this client was to support their Public Entity division. Public Entity associations have unique requirements on capturing and rating data that does not always conform to the insurance industry standards.

Requirements
The client needed a single automation system with single entry capability to handle all aspects of their Public Entity operation. In many ways the client must perform all of the functions of an actual insurance carrier while acting as a Third Party Administrator.
The client required a solution that:

  • Accepted an interface with custom components necessary to support their customers
  • Allowed for flexible workflows that captured data and managed the process based on the way the client needed to do business
  • Was flexible enough to support several locations – each using unique processing workflows and
  • Tracked reinsurance specific and aggregate limits by agreement for reporting purposes.

The Solution

ConceptOne™ had the technology, architecture, database schema and flexibility required. ConceptOne™ also offered the flexibility to develop custom rating modules for the rating options not included in standard ISO rating products.  Due to Epic-Premier providing the software and managing the implementation, the client’s total solution was provided with a Single Point-of-Accountability.  Epic-Premier also supplied several custom components.  One of these components was a rules based rating engine that had the flexibility to capture the data in the way Public Entities required.  Creation of customized user-defined tables allowed the client to capture additional reinsurance data necessary to fulfill their reinsurance reporting requirements.

Requirements
The client needed a single automation system with single entry capability to handle all aspects of the operation.  The client required a solution that:

  • Allowed for the creation of and interface with custom components necessary to support the client’s niche market
  • Captured data at the rating level for reporting purposes

  • Supported 50 state Commercial Lines ISO rating as well as custom rating options and

Industry solutions were evaluated and it was determined that ConceptOne™ was the best choice to provide the technology, architecture, database schema and flexibility to be the foundation for their replacement.  ConceptOne™ provided an interface with AMS/Rackley for ISO rating in addition to the flexibility to interface with custom rating modules.  Epic-Premier was commissioned by the client’s leadership to develop the custom rating module, the policy forms mapping and a conversion plan.  The client focused on developing work flows and defining and documenting the business rules using the client’s in-house automation and insurance industry expertise.
